Concrete Cutting
Slab Sawing
Sometimes referred to as flat or road sawing, slab sawing is the most commonly used diamond cutting method. A slab saw is a walk behind machine with a blade mounted on a spindle.
Common slab saw uses include:
- Trenches for below-grade plumbing and electrical
- Expansion joints
- Decorative sawing
- Removal of damaged areas
Ring Sawing
Ring sawing is a hand-held hydraulic saw that is capable of a cutting depth of 10”. The ring saw differs from other saws in that the blade is not on a spindle. The blade has no core (centre) and rotates on a roller system for deeper cutting.
Common Ring Saw uses include:
- Foundation wall door frames
- Foundation wall window frames
- Removal of damaged areas
Concrete Coring
Diamond Core Drilling
Used when a precise circular penetration is needed. Holes of just about any size and depth can be achieved through this process. Coring can be done in slabs and walls, and at any angle.
Diamond core drilling can be used for many applications, including but not limited to:
- Plumbing
- Electrical
- HVAC
- Telecommunication lines
- Anchoring bolts
- Concrete sample analysis
- Concrete Cutting
Concrete Scanning
When cutting and coring for renovation and repair, avoiding reinforcing bars, post-tension cables and embedded conduits is a priority. Our Scanner can sense both metallic and non-metallic features making it a versatile imaging tool. Construction records for many buildings are not readily available and construction often differs from design. Scanning is your safe and reliable way to confirm what is there.
Concrete Demolition and Removal
Competition Concrete offers concrete break-up and off-site removal services. In areas where Bobcats and other machines cannot be used, sawing techniques are used to break concrete into manageable pieces for removal by hand.
